This small business tip may seem like the most obvious tip to help you get clear when you start feeling overwhelmed. However, you will be surprised by how many of you completely forget the basics when the panic starts to set in. So, make sure to bookmark this post so it’s there when you need it.

As small business owners, especially service-based entrepreneurs, it is not uncommon for you to have moments of doubt or uncertainty about your business. Whether it’s your skills as a service provider or your skills as an entrepreneur, we all go through that stage, where the reality of what you are trying to do starts to set in and your mind goes into a state of panic where you start questioning everything.

For example, it may be that you started planning your social media content confidently but 3 weeks in, you have no idea what you want to post about. Or it might be that you had a great idea about a lead generation magnet to help build your email list but now you’ve lost the whole aim of the magnet in the first place.

The step I am about to share is simple yet effective and helps you take back control when you feel like you are losing sight of what you are doing in your small business. And the reason why this small business tip is great is that you can implement it straight away. No need to go do any more research to get you started.

Now that I have that intro out of the way, lets’ get you from confused to in control of your small business.

Small business tip #1 – Stop distorting the facts

Ok, hear me out here. As a small business owner, you can sometimes feel you are being pulled in every direction and you are expected to turn with ease.

For example, you are expected to do your company accounts, so you then feel like you have to become the expert and learn how to be an accountant. Or you are expected to market yourself online, so you enrol onto a crash course on social media, you get where I am going with this.

But the issue is simply this, the reason you keep getting confused and feeling lost in your business is that you have distorted the facts. What I mean is this:

Fact 1 – you need to sell your services online

Distortion 1 – you need to become a social media expert

Fact 2 – you need to get new clients for your business

Distortion 2 – you have to spend lots of money on adverts to get new clients

Fact 3 – you need to take a step back in your business in order to get realigned with your WHY

Distortion 3 – you will not make any sales, you have to dissolve your business and people will think you are a failure

Get back in control with this easy step

To deal with this issue of distortions, you have to write it down. Yes, I said it.  Write down what’s leaving you feeling so confused about your small business. If you can’t articulate it, exactly what it is, write the words that come to mind or the situation that gives rise to the confusion.

Simple I know, but it helps to see it on paper. Think about it, look at what I wrote above for facts and distortion. Once you put what your challenges or problems are on paper, you are giving yourself control of how you want to deal with the issue.

I do hope this post on the Small Business tip to get you from confused to in-control in 1 easy step has been helpful.

Writing down my thoughts and even having a record to look back to, has helped me with clarity. I like to journal and will now start a business journal, to keep ideas and track progress. Thanks for the ideas šŸ™‚
